Do the Warrior Games still exist? The 2022 Department of Defense Warrior Games remains a showcase of resiliency. This year’s games began on August 19, 2022, at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, and ends with a closing ceremony on August 29. It is unlike any other sporting event in our country.

The 2022 Warrior Games, hosted by the U.S. Army, took place at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort from August 19-28, and will once again be open to the public, welcoming the community and the world to be a part of the excitement and support these heroes.
Who started the Warrior Games?
The Warrior Games have taken place annually since 2010. It was created by John Wordin working with Gen. Gary Cheek (U.S. Army) while participating in the Ride 2 Recovery 2009 Texas Challenge.
How long are Warrior Games?
The duration of the game itself is 48 minutes (four 12-minute periods) plus a 15-minute halftime. But since the game clock stops frequently in basketball, games run an average of around 2 1/2 hours, unless they go into overtime.
