Exclusive Gaming is Keeping Games Alive?

Figured this would be the best place to discuss this:

Why do people seem to think that exclusives are bad? I get it. It's an inconvenience. Not everyone has enough money to buy all systems. But does that really make it a bad thing? Many people forget history in gaming. Many change it to suit what they see based on information given during an age before the internet. But to be honest, history has shown that exclusive games brought Gaming from the brink.

Through the years, gaming has had its upside and downs. We saw the gaming crash of '83, the rise and fall of Sega, the reign of Nintendo, and the constant battles between Sony and Microsoft. There have been many rides through, bringing us to today. We have been on a downward spiral for a decade now. Games were new and inventive back in the last great generation, which was Xbox360 and Playstation 3. Both companies benched all their money in games and wowed us in many ways. Granted PS3 lacked in software compared to Xbox, but they both worked hard to bring us new things.

Then came the hardware push. Xbox pushed harder on hardware, where Playstation began focusing on content. During this, we watched a decline in gaming as more and more games lost exclusivity. The decline had begun. The more people found less reason to buy different consoles, the less quality we found in out games.

But there is one company that has prospered through all of this. One company that has never let up and continued the tradition of exclusives. It is the oldest company in gaming. Nintendo. With how much Nintendo has been through, they have prevailed. Why is that? If exclusives are so bad, why is it Nintendo prospers through?

It's because if there were no exclusives, hardware would be the key factor. Without exclusives, there would be no competition. Nobody would equally buy consoles, so one company will completely outsell others and eventually 1 company will be in the hardware business. This is known as a monopoly.if only 1 company produces consoles, then everyone else becomes software developers. Their money gets cut short because of all the fees they pay for developing for certain systems. It would effectively destroy the market.

I feel like exclusivity isn't really the problem here. It's greed. And I don't mean the companies, either. I believe the greed of players is what is bringing down gaming. We are the problem. We want everything and will destroy to get what we want. And this is where I feel the problem lies.
