Baldur’s Gate 3 developer adds new evil endings one year post-launch
Baldur’s Gate 3 has been out for a year now, and while Larian Studios won’t be releasing any large scale DLC, the developer has continued to tweak the game with new cutscenes and options. A new update is due to release in September that adds new endings tailor-made to the most evil adventurers among us. Larian has shown a few previews of these evil endings on Twitter, piquing fans’ interest.
Larian has showcased clips from a couple of these endings on Twitter, and they’re truly diabolical. One of them shows the Dark Urge, an alternate Origin playthrough, cursing his companions to a terrible fate. For those of us who love choosing the evil playthroughs, it’s nice to see a little more variety in the endings. It feels great to rehabilitate Astarion and befriend Shadowheart, but sometimes you just want to see the world burn.
Father would be so proud.

The Dark Urge is capable of spectacular acts of evil, but don’t worry — the traditional player-made protagonist, also known as Tav, can also cause all sorts of problems for everyone. An evil Tav doesn’t have the same backstory, or connection with the antagonists. Instead, they’re just evil for love of the game, which I can respect.
If you decided happily ever after wasn’t for you, there’s an assortment of evil ending cinematics new to Baldur’s Gate 3, arriving with Patch 7.

It’s been interesting to see how Larian adjusts the game in its post-launch state. Originally, the drow Minthara could only be recruited if you threw the poor tieflings at the Emerald Grove under the bus. Now, good aligned players can recruit her in act 2, thanks to a sneaky workaround. Some fans are still hoping for more additions here and there, like a forbidden romance with Gortash, but I’ll be content with these new dastardly ending scenarios to one of the best RPG tales ever told.
