I’m curious about starting a gaming site?

I'm considering starting a gaming website. Just a passion project to get my brain focused on creativity and using a gift to write about something I love. However, I don't have any ideas. Should I just start a blog instead or should I try to make a full website? Have any of you done similar? What was your experience like? Any tips you have for a new writer?
