Is Compys real? Compsognathus was once considered the world’s smallest dinosaur. Although others have been found which were smaller, the “compy” still holds an important place as one of the earliest theropods in the fossil record.

Procompsognathus appears in the novel Jurassic Park and its sequel The Lost World by Michael Crichton. The species is sometimes referred to as “compys” by the characters. While the author invents a venomous bite for Procompsognathus with soporific effects, there is no evidence to support venom in Procompsognathus.
How old is Compsognathus?
They lived about 150 million years ago, during the Tithonian age of the late Jurassic period, in what is now Europe. Paleontologists have found two well-preserved fossils, one in Germany in the 1850s and the second in France more than a century later.
