Nab Junji Ito's Uzumaki Manga On Sale Just In Time For The Anime's Release
Adult Swim’s long-awaited anime adaptation of Uzumaki is just as good as the trailers have made it seem. It captures horror manga creator Junji Ito’s artwork and style incredibly faithfully, and it makes the story frightening and off-putting in a new way by giving it animated life. But Ito’s manga version of Uzumaki is still the best way to experience his tale of a town haunted by supernatural spirals that cause madness and mutation, and right now, you can get the excellent hardbound version of Uzumaki for just $22 at Amazon, which is a nice discount compared to its normal $35 list price.

If you’re unfamiliar, Uzumaki follows teenager Kirie and her withdrawn boyfriend Shuichi as they start to notice strange and paranormal events in their town. The descent begins with Shuichi’s father, who becomes obsessed with the shape of the spiral. That obsession grows into madness, and as is often the case with Ito’s horror stories, madness leads to body horror and some awesomely detailed, disturbing, and sometimes gross images. If you’re into this kind of thing, it’s great. The hardcover Uzumaki 3-in-1 Deluxe Edition covers the full series, which was originally published in a serialized format in the late 1990s. Altogether, that’s more than 600 pages of horror.
