Where to pick up The Electric State TTRPG

The Electric State, the Netflix film starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt, will arrive in early 2025. In case you’re keeping count, this is the third adaptation of the strange worlds developed by visual artist Simon Stålenhag, whose illustrations have also inspired the Amazon Prime series Tales from the Loop and Things from the Flood.

Following in the footsteps of Tales from the Loop, The Electric State was also recently made into a TTRPG setting by Free League Publishing, and it’s currently available as either a $44.99 hardcover text from Amazon, or as a $24.99 PDF from DriveThruRPG. It’s worth noting that Amazon’s delivery estimate for the hardcover version is currently in the first week of November, wheres the PDF will be delivered instantly.

The Electric State TTRPG is set in the ruins of an alternate 1997 America, which has suffered a type of technological apocalypse where people attempt to eke out a meager existence by sifting through the bones of a post-consumerist utopia littered with the wreckage of drones and massive robots. Just like Tales From the Loop, The Electric State is based on the Year Zero Engine but is unfortunately incompatible with the existing adventures published for Tales from the Loop.

Needless to say, we’re stoked for this game since the TTRPG based on Tales from the Loop received several Ennie Awards back in 2017 for Best Game and Best Setting — even earning a Product of the Year accolade from fans and critics. If you’d like to check out the previous roleplaying game that explored a setting of the 1980s that never was, the core rulebook is available as a $24.99 PDF from DriveThruRPG, and as a $39.99 hardcover from Amazon.
